This course introduces participants to the recognition and treatment of common athletic injuries. Supported with instruction in anatomy, participants will learn how to assess, rehabilitate, and tape or support athletic injuries to enhance the recovery process and speed healing.

This course includes two components: a self-paced, asynchronous online course with six modules and three in-person skill sessions.
Online modules (to be completed by September 21):
- Module 1: Athlete care, anatomical terminology, and taping considerations.
- Module 2: Ankle and lower leg: Functional anatomy, injuries, and management.
- Module 3: Hip and thigh: Functional anatomy, injuries, and management.
- Module 4: Elbow, wrist, and hand: Functional anatomy, injuries, and management.
- Module 5: Shoulder: Functional anatomy, injuries, and management.
- Module 6: Knee: Functional anatomy, injuries, and management. Concussion evaluation and management.
Each module includes a video lecture embedded with interactive questions to help you check your understanding of the material. Other course resources include videos demonstrating how to tape common athletic injuries, a glossary of key terms, and of course, Jocelyn is always happy to answer any questions you might have about the material!
In-person skill sessions:
- September 22: Taping and support for ankle, achilles, shin splints and arches.
- September 26: Taping and support for knee, hip, and thigh. Concussion assessment.
- September 29: Taping and support for shoulder, wrist, and elbow.
All in-person skill sessions will be held from 6-8 pm at the Mount Allison Athletic Centre.

Learning Outcomes:
- Recognize and perform physical assessments of common sports injuries.
- Select and perform correct taping techniques for rehabilitation of these injuries.
- Identify stretches for rehabilitation and prevention from sports injuries.
- Employ safe concussion management strategies.
